Welcome to Greater St. Cloud
Arrival – mid-afternoon Stearns History Center – coming in 2017 “The 70’s” How much fun can we have with that! Stay tuned. Currently: “Signs of the Times” young artists designed and created signs just for this exhibit. The exhibit is a collaboration of The Boys and Girls Club. Other exhibits include: Power on the Prairie, Sam Pandolfo and the Pan Motor Company, On Solid Ground and Memories in Miniature.
Check in at hotel Dinner- TBD Evening at Munsinger/Clemens Gardens – Located along the beautiful Mississippi River, the gardens will flirt with all of your senses! The gardens is truly beautiful and a one-of-a-kind find.
Breakfast at hotel St. John’s Bible project – doesn’t matter what religion you are, the making of the The Bible is awe-inspiring.
10:30 am -St. John’s Bible is truly hand-crafted using old world technology. Ink is made from ash and egg yolk, pens are goose quills. New gallery coming in 2017!
12:00 -Lunch – St. John’s University. This is in the cafeteria; there are several options for food such as: Salad peer, soup and sandwich bar, American hot food, ethnic food, burger and fries and desserts. Beverages – coffee, milk, soda pop, iced tea. This is a cafeteria where you get your own food as much as you like…
1:30 pm – St. John’s Abbey – View the largest stained glass window! The contempory structure reflects the era it was built with the “new order of the Vatican” in the early 60’s. Cost to tour the Bible and Abbey.
3:00p.m. - Grasshopper Chapel – Good example of St. Cloud granite. Follow the story of the pesky grasshoppers which literally ate everything in sight and divine intervention.
4:30 p.m. – back to the hotel, quick change
5:30 p.m. – evening meal
7:00 p.m. –Paramount Theatre
7:30 p.m. – its show time! From our Great Theatre productions to professional talent such as: Branson Country Christmas, Louie Anderson, Rikky Skaggs, and The Nutcracker Ballet check out their calendar for current information.
10:00 p.m. – The Martini Bar – if you have never tried a martini now is your chance! Snicker bar, Strawberry pie, Repeat Offender…there are over 30 types of martini’s to choose from or order something else of your choice. Back to the hotel…good nites sleep.
On The Road to great places: Welcome to Greater St. Cloud Country USA! Drive using U.S. Highway 10 Little Falls Charles Lindbergh Home – Little Falls. The famous aviator spent boyhood summers and a few winters at this home on the Mississippi. Now you can enjoy its cozy kitchen, hear the whisper of the pines from the porch where he slept, or walk by the river where he dreamed of flight. The newly remodeled visitor center with state of the art exhibits tells more of the family story. Boyhood home will be totally refurbished fall of 2016.
Long Prairie, MN Leatherwood Vinegary – Leatherwood Vinegary is the finest little vinegary in Minnesota. It just might be the only one. The Leatherwood Orchards, Leatherwood Herb Gardens, and Leatherwood Vinegary (okay, it's all one place on 40 acres of beautiful Minnesota soil, just north of the Long Prairie River) work together to produce fine wine vinegars. Ron and Nancy are the vintner / vinegarist and herbalist, respectively, with many years of experience in growing fruit and herbs and making them into wines and vinegars. You will do vinegar tasting!
Seasonal OR Prairie Pottery, Thirty years of pottery experience. In addition, the pottery designer has studied ceramics in Japan, received a Bachelors and Masters Degree specializing in ceramics from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Mastering pottery that is functional. Or Amish Stop – wood furniture, baskets, etc. Visit – stop at the Veterans Mount Suribachi – WWII. No charge.
